PAH – Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons form an organic substance group with up to 10,000 compounds. Due to their persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic properties they are considered to be particularly harmful to humans and the environment. During the PAH-analysis, the sum load of 16-25 compounds (as representative substances for the respective total group) is usually analyzed by LC and GC-MS methods.

Matrices that are frequently analyzed include products from the coal, petroleum, plastics or automotive industries.
