IR – Infrared Spectroscopy
In the infrared spectroscopy the sample is analyzed by using electromagnetic radiation. The method is based on absorption of infrared radiation or the resulting excitation of energy states in molecules. The intensity of the absorption is characteristic for the containing binding ratios within the substance. A comparison with reference spectra allows the identification and quantification of known substances or a qualitative structure elucidation of unknown substances and mixtures.
The method can be used to analyze both organic and inorganic substances.
